Relay For Life is a celebration of cancer survivorship and community spirit. Each year in 3,600 communities worldwide, more than 2.25 million people (including 460,000 cancer survivors) take part in this overnight event. In addition to honoring survivors, Relay For Life raises much-needed funds for American Cancer Society research, education, advocacy and patient services.
Each year the Anson County Relay for Life is a big event in the community. It is held at the Anson High School track. Teams from all over the community come to support the Relay for Life and the fight against cancer.
Get a group of friends together to form a Relay team and join us for overnight fun, excitement, and an all-around good time. Team members are encouraged to raise at least $100 each before the event. Those who do will receive a commemorative t-shirt. We'll have music, food, contests, awards, prizes, decorated campsites and on-site fund-raising activities.
If you're a cancer survivor, you don't want to miss the Cancer Survivors' lap which opens every American Cancer Society Relay For Life! Cancer survivors walk the initial lap, symbolizing the courage that survivors and their families display and sustain in their lives.
You'll have an opportunity to recognize your loved ones with the evening Luminaria Ceremony, lighting the night with hope. Lighted luminaria are decorated with the names of cancer survivors and those who lost the fight to cancer.
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a great way to have fun, celebrate survivorship, and raise funds to support a cure for cancer by bringing together friends, family, businesses, hospitals, schools and churches. Help us continue the fight!
